Spring Pops Concert

Join the West Hills Symphonic Band for a festive afternoon of music on Sunday, April 26th at 3:00 PM at Montour High School as we present our Spring Concert: Celebrate!, a program filled with excitement, emotion, and fond memories.

This special performance features not just one, but TWO world premieres! Our newly commissioned arrangement of Henry Mancini’s TOO LITTLE TIME by Paul Murtha is dedicated to the retirement of Clem Rolin, paying homage to his legacy as Music Director and Principal Conductor of the band for 16 years. Band member Brian T. Harris will also take the podium to conduct his original composition ANXIETY, a powerful contemporary expression of the intensity and complexity of the emotion.

Adding to the energy of the program is a dynamic medley of 1967-71 hits from the iconic jazz rock band BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS, bringing the bold brass sound and groove of this iconic group to the concert stage. Fans of sci-fi film and television will further enjoy STAR TREK THROUGH THE YEARS, a thrilling tribute to the legendary series that has spanned 60 years of storytelling and adventure.

Rounding out the program will be a selection of standard and contemporary concert band repertoire showcasing the richness, versatility, and vibrant spirit of the wind band tradition. You will hear works by composers James Curnow, Steven Reineke, Johannes Brahms, Randall D. Standridge, and of course John Philip Sousa.
